.SYNOPSIS...
Temperatures will cool into the 20s and 30s Wednesday night into
Thursday morning under clear skies and dry air. Breezy winds and
low humidity will linger into Thursday. Above average temperatures
will return Friday and Saturday with highs in the 60s. Sunday
through Tuesday will be cooler and breezy with mountain showers.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
Tonight through Friday: Conditions will remain clear, dry, and
windy into this evening as a compact trough drops down through the
region. The Okanogan Valley and Columbia Basin will continue to
see wind gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour up until sunset. A Wind
Advisory is in place through 8 PM tonight. Winds will calm during
the overnight hours. Clear skies combined with a very dry airmass
in place will allow for strong radiational cooling, making for
chilly temperatures Thursday morning. Generally, morning low
temperatures will be in the upper 20s to low 30s. Winds will pick
up again out of the north Thursday afternoon down the Okanogan
Valley, over the Columbia Basin, on the Palouse, and in the
Spokane/Coeur d`Alene metro, but are not expected to be as strong
as today`s. Models are showing around a 40 percent chance of gusts
exceeding 20 miles per hour. With dry and breezy weather, grass
fires will remain a concern in areas of dead grass and/or dry
fuels from last year`s growth. Friday will be 3 to 7 degrees
warmer than today and tomorrow thanks to a ridge of high pressure
building in. In addition to warmer temperatures, winds will be
calmer on Friday. /Fewkes

Saturday through Monday: It will be a transition period for the
region as the ridge shifts east with a weak cold front pressing in
from the Gulf of Alaska. There is decent agreement amongst the
models on the outlook. It is not expected to a robust cold front. It
will generate mountain shower activity. Snow levels will be above
4000ft. Snow amounts are not expected more than an inch. Precip
associated with the front passage is only a few hundredths of an
inch at most. The Northwest to Southeast movement of the front will
keep winds fairly calm with gusts into the mid teens possible. Highs
for the period will be in the upper 50s and 60s. Overnight lows will
be in the 30s to low 40s.

Tuesday through Thursday: High pressure will be building over
Pacific will drive another ridge along the coast. It lead to another
dry, warm period for the region. Highs will climb into the 60s and
low 70s. Overnight lows continue to be in the 30s and upper 40s.
With clear skies, radiational cooling could drops some areas below
freezing and potential harm sensitive plants. /JDC

.AVIATION...
06Z TAFS: A dry northerly flow will promote mostly clear skies into
Thursday. In addition, a weakening pressure gradient will allow winds
to gradually subside into Thursday, but will still be locally gusty
down the Okanogan Valley and around the Lewiston area with gusts up to
20 kts.
